Phil’s Mission & Approach
Phil is dedicated to supporting individuals on their healing journeys by creating safe, transformative spaces that foster self-discovery and integration. With a deep understanding of trauma and the human spirit’s capacity for resilience, Phil blends his extensive experience with traditional practices, modern therapeutic modalities, and a profound respect for cultural wisdom. His mission is to help individuals release emotional burdens, reconnect with their inner power, and integrate transformative insights into their daily lives.
A Journey of Personal Transformation
Phil’s healing path began with a deep desire to address his inner wounds and cultivate wholeness. His journey included diverse practices such as yoga, meditation, pranayama breathing, and holotropic breathwork, which anchored him in self-awareness. He further explored transformative experiences through the Landmark Forum, non-violent communication seminars, men’s circles, and authentic relating practices, gaining invaluable tools for personal growth.
His search for deeper healing led him to engage in eye-gazing, shamanic visualization, sacred fire ceremonies, and traditional rituals. These practices expanded his consciousness and nurtured profound emotional release. Alongside inner child sessions and trauma-informed therapeutic practices, Phil embraced techniques like pressure point energy release, shadow work, and trauma/anger release.
Phil’s connection to ancestral traditions deepened through participation in traditional Temazcal ceremonies, hapé rituals, cacao ceremonies, and vision quest support. Practices like ecstatic dance, sound healing, qigong, and acupuncture further enriched his holistic approach to well-being.
Collaboration & Contribution to Chiron

Phil’s journey with Chiron Academy began through mentorship with Melania Eliza Lumezanu, Chiron’s founder, where he immersed himself in the Academy’s evolving teachings and methodologies. Over the course of a year, he not only gained expertise in the updated, comprehensive Chiron framework but also played an integral role in expanding its teachings.
Phil’s deep well of knowledge, skills, and experience enriched Chiron’s vision, helping to integrate advanced therapeutic techniques, traditional practices, and sacred ceremonial work into the Academy’s offerings. His contributions deepened the mystical and community-oriented aspects of Chiron, complementing and enhancing its already established clinical foundation.
In turn, Chiron’s framework offered Phil a platform to amplify his own expertise, fostering a dynamic, reciprocal exchange of knowledge. This collaboration has not only advanced Chiron’s mission but also expanded its reach as a community and educational hub that bridges trauma-informed care with sacred wisdom traditions.

Fredy Apaza Huarhua
Spiritual Name: PUMASONQO (Puma Heart)

Teacher of Inca Spirituality & Ancestral Healing
Fredy Apaza Huarhua, known by his spiritual name PUMASONQO, meaning “Puma Heart“, is a proud descendant of the Incas and a member of the Quechua Nation from Cusco, Peru. Deeply rooted in the traditions of his ancestors, Fredy is a practitioner and teacher of Inca spirituality, sharing the wisdom and healing practices passed down through generations. His work focuses on guiding ceremonies with San Pedro cactus (Wachuma), leading Ayahuasca journeys, and preserving the ancestral knowledge of the Incas.

From a young age, Fredy felt called to explore the spirituality of his lineage, which led him to study with masters, undertake pilgrimages to sacred mountains, and engage in the rituals and philosophies of the Incas. His approach emphasizes harmony with nature, the cosmos, and oneself, drawing on the Inca belief in clarity, balance, and integrity as guiding principles for life.

Fredy’s dedication to preserving Inca traditions extends beyond ceremony. He has critically studied the history of the Incas, analyzing anthropology, ethnology, and the Quechua language to reclaim narratives of his people often distorted by colonial accounts. He combines this research with experiential knowledge to share a deeply authentic perspective on Inca culture and spirituality.

Fredy has shared his knowledge internationally, speaking at conferences in Peru, France, and Lithuania, where he has taught about the wisdom of his ancestors and the importance of connecting with nature and spirituality for healing and growth. Alongside his spiritual work, Fredy is also an adventure guide, farmer, and musician, playing traditional wind instruments as part of an Inca music band called Sikuri.

Bridging Ancestral Wisdom & Modern Healing
A cross-cultural collaboration integrating Inca spirituality, trauma-informed practices, and psychedelic education to create safe, transformative experiences for personal and collective healing.
In early 2020, Fredy met Melania Lumezanu during a pivotal time in her transition from therapist to educator in harm reduction, trauma-informed, and psychedelic practices. Their meeting marked the beginning of a collaboration that has deeply influenced the foundations of Chiron Academy.

Fredy guided Melania through a transformative Wachuma journey, which included days of preparation at sacred sites around Cusco, rituals of energetic clearing, and a ceremony held in a sacred mountain location over 4,000 meters above sea level. Through this experience, he shared the profound teachings of Inca spirituality, emphasizing the importance of clarity, balance, and connection to nature.
This encounter was not only a deeply personal experience for Melania but also an opportunity for shared learning. As their collaboration grew, Melania introduced Fredy to trauma-informed frameworks, psychedelic education, and mental health perspectives essential for working with individuals from Western backgrounds—many of whom seek healing while carrying trauma or mental health challenges. While in Cusco, she guided Fredy in understanding the importance of proper screening and trauma-informed assessments, as well as structured preparation and integration, to support individuals in fully immersing themselves in Inca traditions in a safe and meaningful way.
This exchange of wisdom has shaped their ongoing collaboration, bridging indigenous knowledge with modern therapeutic approaches. Together, they are working toward future projects that will offer deeper opportunities for learning and immersion in Inca spirituality, tailored to those seeking both personal transformation and a greater understanding of ancestral traditions.
Stay tuned for future collaborations and upcoming offerings.
